Most plants, flowers/vegetables need enough good blue-type light in early stages after seed starts to grow. Then wants all colors---- but later, in last stage of growth-what people call "flowering or blooming" stage(even if not a flower-just -ordinary vegetables or plants)--- wants strong red. Regular plants and vegetables will still grow if not very strong red-but many flowers will not bloom at all if not good strong red.
So many companies still make LED grow lights with combinations of many individual red, blue green, yellow etc LED chips. This is old way-before improved technology and good cheap white 3000K LED chips became available about 6-7 years ago. Lamps with those older colored LEDs are less efficient and have light wavelength "spikes' just like the older fluorescent and high pressure sodium technology grow lights.---------If you look on Internet you see many people still think multicolored colored grow lights "look pretty" with all the colors, but "pretty" light does not mean good "growlight. Some companies still sell fluorescent grow light and LED grow light with color temperature of 5000 or 6000K. That makes light seem much brighter---- fools customers but plants "do not like it"
We have done much testing for several years on many projects with customers-study all competition-know what is true or not true. So we carefully now have chosen lamp with proper spectrum much like sunlight.In last 2-3 years, the large well known international grow-light companies now sell only grow lights with full-spectrum warm-white LEDs -just like us.
Remember this--- sunlight-even when cloudy days-has grown EVERYTHING-for thousands of years. If not enough sun and too many rainy; cloudy days, growth is slower but still grows. If too much blue and poor red-will never bloom or get to final desired appearance. if no blue and only orange/red-will not grow properly/strongly from seeds.
So everybody now knows that LED lamps with "warm white" color ( about 3000K color temperature) have best combination of blue and strong red-very much like real sunlight.
